Introduction:

The Department of Interior Spaces at Vishwakarma University, in collaboration with Dellience Enterprises, organized a guest session featuring Mr. Tushar Dastane and Mr. Francis. The session covered acoustics, sound, reverberation, and echo, along with their practical applications in interior design. A live demonstration was conducted in the Journalism & Mass Communication (JMC) Studio, providing students with hands-on experience in acoustic treatments.

Objectives:

  • To introduce students to the fundamentals of acoustics.
  • To demonstrate the real-world applications of sound behavior in interior spaces.
  • To showcase different acoustic materials and their effectiveness.
  • To bridge the gap between theory and practical application through live demonstrations.

Activities:

  • Lecture on Acoustics – Overview of sound behavior, reverberation, and echo in interior spaces.
  • Live Demonstration – Conducted in the Journalism & Mass Communication Studio to observe the impact of acoustic treatments.
  • Material Showcase – Dellience Enterprises exhibited various acoustic materials, explaining their properties and applications.

  • Understanding how sound interacts with different materials and spaces.
  • Practical exposure to sound absorption, diffusion, and reflection in real-world scenarios.
  • Learning about different acoustic treatment methods used in interior spaces.

Conclusion:

The session provided valuable insights into acoustics and interior design, helping students develop a strong foundation in the subject. The live demonstrations and expert guidance from Dellience Enterprises enhanced their understanding of acoustic materials and design strategies.

Introduction:
As part of the Commercial Space Design module in Design Studio II (C), students from the Department of Interior Spaces, Faculty of Architecture, Vishwakarma University visited KiBO World to gain firsthand exposure to retail and furniture showroom design. The visit provided insights into space planning, branding, product display strategies, and customer experience enhancement in a commercial environment.

Objective:
The field visit aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry application by exploring how commercial interiors are designed to optimize functionality, aesthetics, and brand engagement. Students analyzed retail layouts, material applications, lighting strategies, and ergonomic considerations that contribute to an immersive shopping experience.

Key Learnings:

  • Retail Zoning & Circulation: Understanding the strategic division of spaces for better customer flow.
  • Product Display & Branding: Observing how furniture and décor are presented to enhance buyer engagement.
  • Material & Finish Selection: Exploring the role of sustainable, durable, and aesthetic materials in retail interiors.
  • Lighting & Ambiance: Analyzing the impact of layered lighting on customer perception and spatial experience.
  • Modular Design & Functionality: Learning about multi-purpose furniture, ergonomic solutions, and space-saving innovations.

Impact on Learning:
This visit reinforced key commercial space design principles, helping students connect theory with practical applications. It enabled them to observe how retail interiors influence consumer behavior, enhance brand identity, and create immersive shopping experiences.

The School of Pharmacy, Vishwakarma University, Pune, organized an Alumni Interaction Guest Session on 11th March 2025 to provide students with career insights, industry expectations, and networking opportunities. The session was conducted by Dr. Neeta Rai, Assistant Professor and Departmental Alumni Cell Coordinator, featuring Ms. Vaishnavi Pandey, Senior Pharmacist at Sahyadri Hospital, Pune, as the guest speaker. 60 students actively participated in the event.

Session Highlights

  • Welcome & Introduction: A student introduced Ms. Pandey, highlighting her academic and professional journey.
  • Alumni Presentation: Ms. Pandey shared her transition from student to Senior Pharmacist, discussing career challenges and growth strategies.
  • Interactive Q&A: Students engaged in discussions on career pathways, job search strategies, and essential skills, receiving practical industry insights.
  • Networking Session: One-on-one interactions allowed students to exchange contact details and seek career guidance.
  • Closing Remarks: A student representative summarized key takeaways and expressed gratitude.

Outcomes & Conclusion

The session provided practical industry insights, enhancing students' understanding of career growth, industry expectations, and networking strategies. Positive feedback indicated increased motivation and confidence among attendees.

This initiative successfully bridged the gap between academics and professional careers, and we extend our sincere gratitude to the Management, Dean and faculty members, for their continued support in organizing such enriching experiences.
