Navratri Codethon 2025 – Vishwakarma University, Pune

An online coding challenge inspired by the 9 days of Navratri, where each day is dedicated to a different domain of computer science, mapped to the symbolic energy of the Goddess associated with that day. The event blends cultural significance with technical rigor, creating a unique platform for learning and competition.

Event Stages & Descriptions

1. VU Filtering Round (21 Sept 2025) – Screening round for Vishwakarma University students to qualify for the main challenge.
2. Day 1 – Algorithms (Shailaputri: Strength & Beginnings) – Focus on searching, sorting, recursion, dynamic programming, and optimization problems.
3. Day 2 – Data Structures (Brahmacharini: Perseverance & Devotion) – Challenges on linked lists, stacks, queues, trees, heaps, graphs, and hash maps.
4. Day 3 – Mathematics (Chandraghanta: Courage & Clarity) – Covers number theory, algebra, combinatorics, probability, geometry, and reasoning.
5. Day 4 – SQL & Databases (Kushmanda: Creativity & Energy) – Hands-on tasks with queries, schema design, and database problem-solving.
6. Day 5 – Artificial Intelligence (Skandamata: Nurturing Wisdom) – AI-related challenges testing ML, problem-solving with data, and intelligent systems.
7. Day 6 – C Language (Katyayani: Power & Action) – Classic programming and system-level challenges in C.
8. Day 7 – C++ (Kalaratri: Fearlessness & Transformation) – Advanced OOP, STL, templates, and performance-based coding.
9. Day 8 – Java (Mahagauri: Purity & Simplicity) – Object-oriented Java programming with emphasis on clean, structured solutions.
10. Day 9 – Python (Siddhidatri: Accomplishment & Enlightenment) – Python basic concepts for students and simple coding statements.

The students were benefited in various aspects like

1. Holistic Skill Development – Which covers fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, mathematics) as well as modern domains (AI, databases).
2. Practical Exposure – Students solve real-world problems, improving coding speed, accuracy, and logical thinking.
3. Career Readiness – Prepares participants for technical interviews, hackathons, and competitive exams.
4. Cultural Integration – Blending Navratri symbolism with technical themes makes the event engaging and memorable.
5. Networking & Recognition – Offers visibility on Unstop, allowing students to showcase their achievements to recruiters and peers.

The Navratri Codethon 2025 witnessed vibrant participation from students across renowned institutions in India—including IITs, NITs, and other leading universities—as well as international participants from countries such as Germany. Over nine days, the event seamlessly intertwined cultural celebration with technical excellence, with each day dedicated to a unique domain of computer science symbolically aligned with the energy of the Goddess honoured that day. Participants engaged in a variety of intellectually stimulating challenges, ranging from algorithmic problem-solving and software development to AI and data-driven innovation. The event served as a confluence of ideas, collaboration, and creativity, offering students a platform to enhance their skills, connect with peers from diverse academic backgrounds, and celebrate the spirit of learning through the lens of cultural heritage.

Participation Details & Analytics: -

The graph highlights the top 15 colleges by registrations for the event. Vishwakarma University (VU), Pune leads by a large margin with around 80 registrations, far exceeding other institutions. The next contributors include Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT), Pune, Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab, and Chitkara University, Punjab, though their numbers are much smaller. Overall, the data shows that registrations are heavily concentrated at VU Pune, with other colleges contributing relatively fewer participants.

Key Insights

1. Peak Engagement – On 21st September 2025, views peaked at nearly 14,000, indicating strong initial interest right after launch.
2. Gradual Decline – After the peak, views steadily declined through the week, dropping to around 2,000 per day by 27th–29th September.
3. Sustained Interest – Even after the peak period, the event maintained a steady baseline of 1,500–2,000 daily views, showing consistent visibility.

Overall the event received over 53K impressions and 52.5K views, with the highest traction on 21st Sept 2025 (~14K views). Engagement tapered off in the following days but stabilized at around 2K daily views, reflecting both strong launch visibility and sustained interest throughout the campaign period.

Final Grand Finale day of the Hackathon: On the final day of the Navratri-inspired coding challenge, we organized a 5-hour hackathon featuring two categories: Vibe Coding and Model Building. Participants showcased their creativity and technical skills, and the winners were felicitated by the Dean and other faculty members, marking a grand culmination of the event that blended cultural significance with innovation and competition.

Conclusion
Navratri Codethon 2025 at Vishwakarma University, Pune, successfully fused cultural reverence with technological prowess, delivering an enriching nine-day journey that empowered over 480 participants from diverse institutions worldwide. By aligning each day's challenges with the symbolic energies of the Navratri Goddesses—from Shailaputri's foundational algorithms to Siddhidatri's enlightening Python explorations—the event not only honed essential coding and problem-solving skills but also celebrated heritage as a catalyst for innovation. The innovative hackathon finale, blending Vibe Coding and Model Building, underscored the event's commitment to real-world application and creativity, while robust engagement metrics—53K+ impressions and sustained views—highlighted its resounding impact. With enthusiastic feedback averaging 3.7/5 and certificates recognizing top performers, this codethon embodied Vishwakarma University's ethos of maximizing human potential, inspiring future generations of tech leaders to code with purpose, collaborate across boundaries, and innovate fearlessly in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
