Statistics is a discipline that is fundamental in decision-making and policy formulation.
Considering the importance of Statistics, Vishwakarma University established the
Department of Mathematics and Statistics under the Faculty of Science and Technology
in 2018 and offers Four Year Degree B.Sc.(Hons’) Statistics-Data Science
B.Sc.(Research in Statistics)-Data Science (Specialization in Data Analytics &
Biostatistics) as per NEP 2020 and M.Sc. Statistics-Data Science (Specialization in
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning & Biostatistics) In Association with TCS-ION
Industry Honour program courses.
From the academic year 2021, the programmes will be offered in association with TCS iON-Industry Honour Program (IHP) with winter and summer internships. A semester- long internship will be provided for the top 10% of students by TCS-iON. This is aimed at providing industry and technology insight to students and preparing them for professional careers in the industry. The programme offers an excellent balance between theory and real-world applications which covers traditional theory methods as well as modern ideas in the field of data analytics.

Statistics is a versatile and evergreen branch of applied Mathematics. Statisticians can work in various fields like data analyst, data scientist, in various public and private sectors, quality control, finance domain, etc. Our University is the first private University in Pune to offer B.Sc. Honours in Statistics. The department has a well qualified and dedicated faculty with well-developed laboratories. We impart quality education through sound theoretical knowledge and hands-on training, industry visits, expert sessions, introduction to cutting-edge modern technologies, etc.
We are proud of our association with TCS-iON (Industry Honour Program) which will be an excellent platform for the students to carve out their niche.
