Objective: The Yuva Tourism Club, Department of Travel and Tourism, organized a field visit to Karla and Bhaja Caves to explore and learn about Indian heritage and Buddhist cave architecture. The objective of this visit was to provide students with a hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of India's rich cultural and architectural history.

Introduction:

The Karla and Bhaja Caves are ancient Buddhist rock-cut temples located in the state of Maharashtra, India. These caves date back to the 2nd century BCE and are renowned for their intricate carvings, sculptures, and architectural excellence. The visit aimed to educate students about the significance of these caves, their historical importance, and the architectural techniques employed in their construction.

Observations and Findings:

During the visit, students observed and noted the following:

1. Architectural Style: The Karla and Bhaja Caves showcase a unique blend of Indian and Buddhist architectural styles, characterized by intricate carvings, sculptures, and ornate facades.

2. Cave Layout: The caves are laid out in a specific pattern, with the chaitya (prayer hall) and vihara (monastery) being the central features.

3. Sculptures and Carvings: The caves are adorned with intricate sculptures and carvings depicting Buddhist mythology, gods, and goddesses.

4. Historical Significance: The Karla and Bhaja Caves are significant historical landmarks, providing valuable insights into the lives of ancient Indian Buddhists.

Conclusion:

The field visit to Karla and Bhaja Caves was a resounding success, providing students with a unique and enriching learning experience. The visit achieved its objective of educating students about Indian heritage and Buddhist cave architecture, and we look forward to organizing similar field visits in the future.

A State Level Exhibition cum Competition scheduled on the 4th April 2025 accompanied by 28 students from Second Year Division D, BTech (as per the attached list).

The primary objective of this visit is to provide the students with practical exposure to innovative projects, technological advancements, and real-world applications of engineering concepts. DIPEX is a renowned platform that displays a wide range of technical exhibits from across the state, and this opportunity will significantly enhance the students' learning experience beyond classroom teaching.

  • Details: Mr. Tiwari highlighted the growing significance of spiritual tourism in India, emphasizing the role of cultural heritage, pilgrimage sites, and wellness retreats in attracting both domestic and international tourists. He discussed future trends and policy implications for sustainable spiritual tourism.

  • Speaker: Dr. Cecilie Smith-Christensen
  • Topic: Sustainable Tourism
  • Details: Dr. Christensen explained the importance of sustainable tourism practices, focusing on environmental conservation, local community engagement, and responsible tourism initiatives. She shared case studies on how destinations worldwide are integrating sustainability into their tourism strategies.

  • Topic: Event Management
  • Details: Ms. Rebello provided a comprehensive overview of event planning and management in the tourism sector. She discussed key aspects such as budgeting, logistics, marketing, and the role of technology in creating successful tourism events.

Afternoon Session (2:15 PM - Online)

  • Speaker: Dr. Pallavi Kamble
  • Topic: Emerging Destinations and Changing Consumer Behaviour in Global Context
  • Details: Dr. Kamble discussed how emerging destinations are gaining popularity among tourists due to changing consumer preferences. She analyzed trends in travel motivations, experiential tourism, and the impact of digital media on destination marketing.

Day 3 - 28th March 2025

  • Speaker: Mr. Parag Magar
  • Topic: Luxury Travel & Adventure Tourism
  • Details: Mr. Magar elaborated on the growing demand for luxury travel experiences and adventure tourism. He covered topics such as exclusive travel packages, adventure tourism safety standards, and how these segments contribute to economic development in tourism destinations.

Outcome : The guest lecture series successfully fulfilled its objective of enhancing students' understanding of emerging trends in tourism. The interactive discussions and expert insights have equipped students with knowledge that will be beneficial for their academic growth and professional careers. The Department of Travel and Tourism extends its sincere gratitude to all the resource persons for their valuable contributions and to the students for their enthusiastic participation.

Exit Exam Preparation Guest Session

The School of Pharmacy organised an EXIT Exam Preparation Guest Session with the objective of providing essential knowledge, skills, and strategies to D. Pharmacy students to enhance their performance in the EXIT Exam. This exam is a crucial step for students in their journey toward becoming registered pharmacists.

The session was held on Monday, 24th March 2025. The event was convened by Prof. (Dr.) S. Sunitha and Prof. Jyoti Sahu, co-convened by Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Agarwal, and coordinated by Prof. Vishnu Parab.

The session commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Jyoti Sahu, followed by an introduction to the guest speaker, Ms. Bharti Vaishnaw. The session was conducted online and attended by 50 students and all are eager to learn effective preparation strategies for the EXIT Exam.

The interactive session provided opportunity to the students to clarify their doubts and gain insights into efficient exam preparation methods. The resource person also shared valuable tips on stress management and maintaining focus during the examination period.

The EXIT Exam Preparation Guest Session successfully met its objective of guiding students in their exam preparation journey. The session was well received, with positive feedback from both students and faculty members.

  2. Understanding Regional Context: Study the impact of geography, climate, and culture on the evolution of architectural styles and construction techniques in Madhya Pradesh.

  3. Application of Learning: Encourage students to integrate insights from the tour into their academic projects, fostering a deeper connection between theory and real-world architectural practices.

The workshop aims to empower participants with a comprehensive understanding of Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Articulation, and Inquisitiveness and their significance in the corporate world. Through interactive sessions and real-world case studies, attendees will develop essential skills to analyse situations logically, approach problems strategically, communicate ideas effectively, and foster a mindset of curiosity and continuous learning. Additionally, the workshop will provide insights into how these competencies contribute to professional growth, leadership, and decision-making in dynamic work environments. By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with practical strategies to enhance their cognitive and communication abilities, preparing them to navigate challenges confidently and excel in their careers.

Event Summary:

The One-Day Workshop on Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving for Career Growth was conducted by the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Department of Computer Engineering, Vishwakarma University, Pune, in collaboration with Satkaam Foundation on March 11, 2025 at the VU Auditorium, Eco-Campus Building.

The workshop aimed to equip participants with critical thinking, problem-solving, articulation, and inquisitiveness skills. Through interactive sessions and real-world case studies, students learned how to analyze problems logically, develop strategic solutions, and enhance their communication abilities. The workshop emphasized the importance of these skills in career growth, leadership, and decision-making.

The sessions were led by Mr. Abhijit Bhide (Co-Founder, Satkaam) and Mr. Rahul Bhide (India Center Head & Director of Products, Mindbody). The event was coordinated by Prof. Jayendra Jadhav and Prof. Richa Agnihotri, with Dr. Kalias Patil (Dean, Science & Technology) as the Convener and Dr. Sandip Thite (Associate Dean, Science & Technology) as the Co-Convener.

Outcome:

  • Enhanced Critical Thinking Skills – Participants developed a structured approach to analyzing and solving complex problems.
  • Improved Problem-Solving Abilities – Attendees learned various frameworks for strategic decision-making.

The School of Pharmacy organised a National Pharmacy Education Day celebration to raise awareness about the role of pharmacists in health and wellness. It aimed to encourage students to express their knowledge and creativity through posters on various health observances. The event was held on Tuesday, 11th March 2025. The event was convened by Prof. (Dr.) S. Sunitha, Dean, VU School of Pharmacy and coordinated by Prof. Vishnu Parab. 

The event featured a poster exhibition and competition, where students created and displayed posters on global health observances. The posters highlighted the significance, themes, and preventive measures associated with these days. Participants presented posters containing awareness messages, infographics, and innovative ideas for health promotion. The exhibition attracted faculty and students, fostering discussions on healthcare topics.

The competition was judged by Ms. Vaishnavi Pandey, senior Pharmacist, at Sahyadri Hospital, Pune and ex-student of school of pharmacy based on creativity, relevance, accuracy, and presentation.

The National Pharmacy Education Day celebration successfully provided a platform for students to showcase their artistic skills while reinforcing their role in healthcare. The event was well-received and achieved its objective of promoting awareness and professional responsibility in pharmacy education.
