Vishwakarma University (VU) actively promotes entrepreneurial outlook among the students and offers them a rich network of entrepreneurs, mentors, expert faculty, alumnus entrepreneurs and other entrepreneurship eco-system partners. The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) at the University develops students’ knowledge of entrepreneurial opportunities, competencies and the key success factors.
The ED Cell works closely with the leading global, Indian and local organizations promoting entrepreneurship. The student community at VU also benefits from the excellent Incubation Support available to them. These initiatives not just nurture entrepreneurial talent but also enhance the employability of the students as they become more innovative, creative and courageous.
ED Cell promotes Learning Mangement System (LMS) based courses offered from Wadhvani Foundation's NEN which help students to get additional certifications
The University has an Advisory Board in Entrepreneurship which consists of experienced entrepreneurs from various fields who help the ED cell in guiding students, mentoring them for their entrepreneurial ventures, reviewing ED activities and providing feedback for improvement.
Combining students’ ideas with VU’s cutting edge academic facilities and depth of technological, engineering and managerial expertise, Incubation Centre presents a unique opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to take up their business to the next level.
The ED cell organizes E week for the students which comprises of various activities like my story sessions, panel discussions, experiential exercises, b-plan competition, poster competition, video show and discussion, business model generation, case study competition, etc.
Entrepreneurs are frequently invited at the University to interact with the students. They share their journey of being an entrepreneur and motivate students towards entrepreneurial options. This aims at inspiring and guiding students to take up entrepreneurship.
This activity exposes students to the lives of entrepreneurs and aids in boosting their motivation to excel. The personal lessons and insights from entrepreneurs help students in understanding the opportunities, challenges and key success factors in entrepreneurship.
The University has a deferred placements policy as a safety net to those students who want to take up entrepreneurship as a career option right after graduating from VU, but often hold back themselves for the fear of failure and losing out on a corporate career.
A MoU with organizations like Investronaut, National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and deAsra is in place to systematically develop the capabilities of the University and extend best possible support to budding entrepreneurs.
Several workshops are organized at VU as part of the capability building interventions. Such workshops are conducted by trainers, expert faculty and inhouse faculty on themes like idea generation, business model generation, business plan preparation, pitching, etc.
The ED Cell at VU is managed by the student leaders (also called e-leaders) under the guidance of faculty and advisors. This practice develops their ability to comprehend and tackle varying issues in managing ideas, projects, events, funds, people and partners.
The ED Cell promotes and projects webinars in the areas of funding, hiring, team building, intellectual property, product management, entrepreneurial marketing, etc. It also facilitates completion of the MOOCs offered by leading MOOC providers across the globe..
The ED Cell organizes numerous competitions like business idea challenge, business plan competition, case study analysis, startup awareness quiz, pitching, etc. to provide a platform for students to showcase their talent and improve their entrepreneurial skills.
We have a growing network of high-profile entrepreneurs coming from different sectors for the student entrepreneurs to work with. These identified mentors help aspiring entrepreneurs transform their innovative ideas into viable ventures through their valuable inputs.
A special section of books and other learning material on entrepreneurship is developed in the library specifically for the entrepreneurship aspirants.
The University promotes students to work on project basis with startups and have a real-life experience of working with and for entrepreneurs.
